SOUTHERN CHESS PIE
Comments OffThis southern classic is very rich. When I moved to OH and told someone that I was making this pie they said “What kinda pie is that”? I was in shock….I grew up on chess pie…must be a southern thing.

INGREDIENTS

tablespoon cornmeal |

1/2 |
teaspoon vinegar |
|
1/4 |
cup milk |
|
1 |
tablespoon flour |
|
1/2 |
cup butter (melted) |
|
1 1/2 |
cups sugar |
|
1/2 |
teaspoon vanilla |
|
1 |
pie shell (unbaked) |
INSTRUCTIONS
By hand, beat eggs slightly.
Add sugar, flour and meal.
Add in the milk, butter, vanilla and vinegar.
Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
Bake for 45 minutes at 325 degrees, then at 300 degrees for 10 minutes.
Cool completely before slicing and serving.
